Bubby is exposed at the rear!

Jordan, the 1962 Shasta Airflyte is getting prepped for a paint job so while Alan does that I have been "tinkering" around with Bubby. I pulled out the stove, removed the bed, cleaned the ice box and basically assessed him for what is going to have to be done to bring him back to his old glory. There is a hole in the sink so that needs replaced. The table will have to be fixed and there is a bit of wood work I am looking forward to doing. Overall, not as bad as it could be. First things first, I thought I would get the back wall area torn apart. And so, the back aluminum came down and the frame was removed  up to the window.  Taking off the back sheet of aluminum wasn't so easy. They used those clutch head screws we all love to hate! We are sure the guy who invented them is now in hiding! On top of that they nailed the siding about every 6 inches all along the edges and all around the window frame. Guess they didn't want this sheet of aluminum flying off while in transit! 

Something new...the back of the aluminum was anodized. Haven't seen that before! 

Bubby exposing his rear!

Out came all the old birch and he is almost ready for new birch. I have to repair the dividing wall of the bed area and bathroom and while I was in there cleaning the bathroom walls I noticed that a few of the tiles were coming up. Uh oh....the red floor was in good condition and I loathe it when floors have to be redone and now it looked like this will be the case! Well, I ran into some luck...the floor in the bathroom wasn't all that bad! Hmmmm, wonder what is under the red tiles in the rest of the trailer? How bad is the damage for them to cover the original floor with the red? Guess I will be finding out soon enough!

Floor underneath is original and wall is removed that divides it from the bed area.
